💧 Ruidoso Hit Hard by Flash Flooding—Again
On July 8, Ruidoso, New Mexico was hit by yet another natural disaster—this time, a flash flood fueled by intense monsoon rains. With burn scars from last year’s wildfires still raw, the water had nowhere to go, racing down the mountains and turning streets into rivers.
The Rio Ruidoso surged past 20 feet, swallowing homes, cars, and even entire buildings. Emergency crews rushed in, rescuing dozens of people from rooftops, vehicles, and flooded homes. One surreal scene even showed a house floating by a brewery—door still intact.
This wasn’t just a freak storm. It’s part of a painful pattern. Burned land can’t absorb rain, so flooding becomes a constant threat after every downpour. It’s a reminder of how one disaster can feed another.
But through it all, the people of Ruidoso pulled together—neighbors helping neighbors, first responders working nonstop, and a community showing its resilience once again.
Tough day, strong town. Ruidoso will rebuild—again.
